The added health benefits are a huge plus. I need to use Evernote more. These floor plans are so fun! (and now I want… Read More

Tuesday Talks is a GoodReads group where a bunch of book nerds discuss bookish topics each week. This week’s Tuesday Talk is: DNF (Did not finish) without guilt? I can rarely not finish a book without guilt (hence the TBR pile this month is nothing but books I haven’t finished). I try not to start a book unless I know that… Read More

March is for Finishing

March is for Finishing

Is it just me who has books abandoned, always meaning to finish, but never quite gotten there? I have a sad number, all in various degrees of “almost-finished”. But no more. I have deemed March the finishing month. My TBR list for March consists only of books that I’m almost, but not quiet finished with. Those that were abandoned, not because… Read More

Title: Throne of Glass Author: Sarah J. Maas Genre: YA Fiction, Fantasy Thoughts: Between Sarah J. Maas and Mary Weber, I’m turning into a fantasy reader—I never read fantasy. In fact it’s generally something I hate. But what I am a huge fan of is good writing. Good writing and a great story. You get both in Throne of Glass. I’m just really… Read More

That was twelve years ago... and I almost listened That was twelve years ago... and I almost listened.

I’m really glad I didn’t. To be honest, this person wasn’t wrong. At the time I wasn’t very good at writing. It was early on in my career. Hearing that I should give up was a punch to my gut and I had two choices.

I could listen, and not write ever again.

OR

I could buckle down and get better.

I chose to get better. I still don’t think I’ve “arrived” but I am a lot better than I was then.

So this is me telling you — don’t ever stop dreaming, don’t ever stop learning, and don’t take bad advice.
