Top 3 Podcasts (to beat the commute)

I have recent acquired a bit of a commute to town. Recently while traveling home, I honestly felt like I was going to pull my hair out if I had to listen to the radio blaring the same song one more time. So I turned off the radio and started getting caught up on my podcasts. Here are three podcasts… Read More

Quick and Easy DIY Notebook Covers

Writers have to have their notebooks (we are not going to count how many I currently have). And while I prefer my Moleskines plain-jane, I like my notebooks anything but. I’m not sure why. I just fill them with scribbles (kinda literally since when I write long-hand, I let it all out. What it looks like on the page is sometimes… Read More

Review: The Choosing

Review: The Choosing

Oh. My. Gosh. Really. After reading this 424 page book and that’s what I got to say. I know, I know. That’s not a review, but gosh. Rachelle Dekker can write a book! There seemed to be buzz around the web questioning whether Rachelle was going to live up to the hype. I mean, her dad is Ted Dekker (yes,… Read More

Friday Links

Just some randomly cool stuff I found on the web this week. This is basically true. My bestie introduced me to this wonder over the weekend and now I’m scouring my town over trying to get my hands on a box (we found it while in Nashville and I should have bought it, but I didn’t). I may just have… Read More

How to Read More Books Faster

How to Read More Books Faster

I read a lot of books, but I’m not what you would call a fast reader. In the past couple of weeks, I’ve gotten quiet a few “How do you read so fast? And with little ones, work, writing, etc. . .” that I thought I’d make a post out of it. Some might find my ways cheating, but here’s… Read More

That was twelve years ago... and I almost listened That was twelve years ago... and I almost listened.

I’m really glad I didn’t. To be honest, this person wasn’t wrong. At the time I wasn’t very good at writing. It was early on in my career. Hearing that I should give up was a punch to my gut and I had two choices.

I could listen, and not write ever again.

OR

I could buckle down and get better.

I chose to get better. I still don’t think I’ve “arrived” but I am a lot better than I was then.

So this is me telling you — don’t ever stop dreaming, don’t ever stop learning, and don’t take bad advice.

You got this. I’m cheering for you.
