Have a rad weekend

This weekend is filled with parties celebrating my five-year-old! Enjoy these fun links I’ve found around the web this week. Diving into trying to understand my succulents and make them thrive! (and hopefully propagating some of them will help!) Interesting way Jane Austen edited her novels. Excited to make tons of these for quick breakfasts before school (which generally means… Read More

Quick Inspiration

Quick Inspiration

There are some days that require a little more inspiration than others. There are two slim books that I always turn to when I’m feeling a little low in the inspiration department. Ksenia Anske’s Sparrow books. Ksenia Anske has taken her (very) inspirational tweets on writing and reading and combined them all into two volumes: Blue Sparrow and Blue Sparrow… Read More

Staying Active (when you work from home)

Staying Active (when you work from home)

I’ve been really trying hard to be active more during the week. The days when I’m up early working, and then crashing in the afternoon—instead of crashing, I’ve been trying to get up and move. Sitting is said to be the new smoking. I’m doing everything in my power to stay healthy (and not . . .smoke?) Here are a… Read More

That was twelve years ago... and I almost listened That was twelve years ago... and I almost listened.

I’m really glad I didn’t. To be honest, this person wasn’t wrong. At the time I wasn’t very good at writing. It was early on in my career. Hearing that I should give up was a punch to my gut and I had two choices.

I could listen, and not write ever again.

OR

I could buckle down and get better.

I chose to get better. I still don’t think I’ve “arrived” but I am a lot better than I was then.

So this is me telling you — don’t ever stop dreaming, don’t ever stop learning, and don’t take bad advice.

You got this. I’m cheering for you.
