What I’m reading this week: Coaxing out the Magical Cookies (Susan Dennard): I’m (slowly) making my way through CK2 and keep feeling stuck. I’m refreshing myself with Susan’s tips on making sure every chapter — every scene — has magical cookies that keep readers coming back. What Are You Looking Forward To?

What Are You Looking Forward To?

I was reading one of my favorite blogs (Love, Taza) last week and she posted what she was looking forward to in the “after” of this pandemic. What she was looking forward to when you can travel (somewhere, anywhere). When you can go to the theatre. When this weirdness is behind you. And I loved her post. It really got… Read More

Fiction that Speaks

You, guys. This book. Oh, my heart. First of all, let me say that I went into this book not really knowing what it was about. Goals Update + February Goals

Goals Update + February Goals

January’s goals crushing was a little … bleak. While we were able to get more hours outside (goal 10, reality closer to 25), I only completed a Whole …15 and I didn’t get the traction on CK2 that I really wanted to. The point of goal setting isn’t to beat yourself up when you don’t complete anything on your list…. Read More

That was twelve years ago... and I almost listened That was twelve years ago... and I almost listened.

I’m really glad I didn’t. To be honest, this person wasn’t wrong. At the time I wasn’t very good at writing. It was early on in my career. Hearing that I should give up was a punch to my gut and I had two choices.

I could listen, and not write ever again.

OR

I could buckle down and get better.

I chose to get better. I still don’t think I’ve “arrived” but I am a lot better than I was then.

So this is me telling you — don’t ever stop dreaming, don’t ever stop learning, and don’t take bad advice.

You got this. I’m cheering for you.
