February Book Report

Screen Shot 2016-03-15 at 9.18.53 AMYou can see a full video of my monthly book haul and what I read on Periscope! Check it out on the Periscope Notes Page!

The LumberJanes | This was a fun, quick read. I’ve really enjoyed diving into the world of graphic novels. This graphic novel was just ok for me. There was just something about. I didn’t really feel like the story had much of a plot. It kinda felt pieced together. It wasn’t the best graphic novel I’ve ever read, but at the end of the day it was still a fun read.

Me Before You | Jojo Moyes: I’m pretty sure I’m a robot. I heard that this book was absolutely heart crushing, so going in I had high hopes of ugly cries. But when it got to the end of the story. . . nothing. (The same happened with The Fault In Our Stars) I’m not sure if it’s me, or just the hype surrounding the “sadness” of the story. However, I have found a new love in Jojo Moyes and can’t wait to read more of her stuff. (Jojo Moyes fans . . .which one of hers should I pick up next?)

A Fatal Waltz | Tasha Alexander: Tasha Alexander will forever be my favorite. A Fatal Waltz is the third book in her Lady Emily Mysteries series. I’m slowly making my way through all of them. Such fun, fun reads—think Jane Austen with a murder mystery twist!

The Girl From Everywhere | Heidi Heilig: This book transports you to Hawaii on a pirate-ish ship. Loved it. I thought this one was a little different in the fact that not many books are set in Hawaii before it was a US State. It was a fun trip (and now I’m trying to somehow plan a trip to Hawaii this year).

The Bachelor Girl’s Guide to Murder | Rachel McMillan: I love Rachel. She has hit it out of the ballpark with her debut. Two friends in 1910 sleuthing their way through life. Love her main girls—Jem and Merinda. And she has two swoon worthy guys in DeLuca and Jasper. This one actually doesn’t come out until next month, but you def want to get it on your pre-order list! I super can’t wait for book two!!!

The Madman’s Daughter | Megan Shepard: This one. I started listening to this one on audiobook and was having  hard time following it, so I picked it up from the library. It was an interesting read. My husband is taking a few psychology including a history of psychology class, so it was interesting to hear about some of the “medial procedures” the main character’s father was performing. However, other than the interestedness of early medicine practices and experiments, this one just didn’t do it for me.

What I’m currently reading: Dorothy Must Die, a wonderful book from a writer friend (super secret), and I’m listening to Winter on audiobook.

What are you reading?

Currently reading: A pre-release copy of Becky Wade’s Her One and Only 🙂

Just finished: Sway by Amy Matayo (Yay for really good inspirational new adult – few and far between) and The Red Door Inn by Liz Johnson while I was on vacation!

Up next: I still really want to read the JoJo Moyes book because I hear she’s a gorgeous writer, and I want to learn some romance techniques from her!

NEED TO FINISH THE STORM SIREN SERIES!
