5K: 2/12

Saturday was my second 5K. There was a lot that was different about this run that made it more enjoyable than the last (and ultimately I think helped me run faster). Review: Plumdog

Review: Plumdog

Plumdog is a endearing book about a small black dog (she’s a whoosell—a whippet mixed with Jack Russell and poodle) from London (which was my original draw towards this book). Through Emma Chichester Clark’s new book, we are able to follow Plum through a year in her life, diary style. Elsie and I are currently reading through this book and… Read More

Music for Inspiration

Music for Inspiration

I am one of those writers that has to always have to music going when I’m writing. If I have music with words, it is always mellow and, honestly down right depressing (who knows why), but when it comes to instrumental, I’m all over the place. These are some of my favorites to get my writing juices flowing: Doctor Who… Read More

I’m really excited to bring you this story — yes, I’ve been talking about it for years and this is the year it is finally happening!!
That was twelve years ago... and I almost listened That was twelve years ago... and I almost listened.

I’m really glad I didn’t. To be honest, this person wasn’t wrong. At the time I wasn’t very good at writing. It was early on in my career. Hearing that I should give up was a punch to my gut and I had two choices.

I could listen, and not write ever again.

OR

I could buckle down and get better.

I chose to get better. I still don’t think I’ve “arrived” but I am a lot better than I was then.

So this is me telling you — don’t ever stop dreaming, don’t ever stop learning, and don’t take bad advice.
