Lately, my seven year old daughter (excuse me, seven and a half. . . she corrected me) loves graphic novels. I’m going to be completely honest. Most of the time, graphic novels make me a little nervous. Generally they are filled with not-so-great things that I want my kids filling their minds with (and I say kids because if big sister is into it, chances are little brothers are going to follow suite).
That’s where the Action Storybook Bible comes in. I wouldn’t say the Action Storybook Bible is a full on graphic novel, but it’s close enough. Bright pictures fill every page, and keep my kids interested. And of course, each page has Bible story text. This isn’t a chapter by chapter Bible, instead each chapter of the book notes numerous chapters from the Bible (IE the first chapter “God Creates the World” is based off Genesis 1 – 3)
We’ve been reading various storybook Bibles from the time the kids were little (The Jesus Storybook Bible being one of our favorites). I think the Action Storybook Bible is a perfect step up from our Jesus Storybook Bible for my six-year-old, and the perfect graphic novel introduction for my seven-almost-eight-year-old.
