What We’re Reading

What We’re Reading

Lately I’ve been trying to be more mindful about reading to the kids before bed. I was noticing some attitude issues going on. Once I started reading at bedtime would you believe the attitude issues all but cleared up?! (Given we still have our tired days . . .) Here’s what we picked up this month: Elsie and I are… Read More

Quite Time in the Midst of Life

Quite Time in the Midst of Life

My mornings, I hit the ground running. It doesn’t matter if I plan to get up two hours early or ten minutes early. When momma’s up, everyone’s up. With three kids, one is begging to nurse, one is crying for cereal (“with milk, momma,” I’m always reminded), and one for strawberries with his ever present apple juice. By the time… Read More

That one time by best friend got married . . .

Last weekend, my best friend got married (to Andy’s best friend—great how that works out). It was a crazy, whirlwind weekend (Andy, Me, and both E and D were attendants) but lots of fun. Seriously one of the top gorgeous weddings I’ve seen (funnily enough the other top goes to Andy’s other best friend). Highlights of the… Read More

The birth of Oliver Scout

The birth of Oliver Scout

From the beginning everyone told me Scout’s birth was going to go fast—in some ways it was fast, but in others it took forever. I started having semi light contractions on Christmas. Enough to know it was a contraction, but not enough to actually think anything was happening (and this is right around the time the plague hit the Krumm… Read More

A Name

A Name

Oliver didn’t start out as Oliver. In fact, Oliver wasn’t anywhere on our list. We had 3 others (two family names and a (shocking) non-family name), but we really couldn’t decide which name we liked best. So, doing what anyone would do, we just decided to wait. Fast forward to November and the Florida trip. On the way home, discussing… Read More

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday

I can’t let November go by without saying Happy Birthday to my number one girl. In the midst of the black plague resulting in my dehydration last week, trying to stay on top of work, and trying to squeeze every last possible moment with my brother before he went home to Japan (without my ending up in the corner in… Read More

I’m really glad I didn’t. To be honest, this person wasn’t wrong. At the time I wasn’t very good at writing. It was early on in my career. Hearing that I should give up was a punch to my gut and I had two choices.

I could listen, and not write ever again.

OR

I could buckle down and get better.

I chose to get better. I still don’t think I’ve “arrived” but I am a lot better than I was then.

So this is me telling you — don’t ever stop dreaming, don’t ever stop learning, and don’t take bad advice.

You got this. I’m cheering for you.
