Reviewed: Jo Baker’s Longbourn

I’m a little bit of a Jane Austin nerd. Pride and Prejudice is on the short list of books I’ve read more than 3 times (it’s a very short list), so when I heard about Jo Baker’s Longbourn — a look at the world of Pride and Prejudice from the bottom up — I had to read it. (From Goodreads)… Read More

What I’m Reading

title: The Healer’s Apprentice author: Melanie Dickerson genre: YA Fiction thoughts: This is actually a very well read book. That being said, it also falls into my “bubble gum” category. Easy to figure the plot out, no crazy big surprises, but that’s perfectly fine with me.

Which is a good thing since I’m trying to fly through it before we leave on Sunday. At 550 pages this thing is a whopper. Totally seemed doable yesterday when I had 4 days to read… Read More

To the Beach

Are you really surprised that I’m taking a stack of books to the beach with me? These five are the five that I narrowed down to come with me in all their paperback glory (don’t ask me how many I currently have downloaded on my mini . . .) . . . But this weekend it all changed. And if… Read More

What I’m Reading

What I’m Reading

title: Longbourn author: Jo Baker genre: Historical fiction thoughts: This is an interesting book — it’s taking the Bennetts’ (yes the Pride and Prejudice Bennetts) house staff and telling their story. I just started reading it last night so I’m literally only pages in. The verdict is still out on this one. I’ll have a full write up in… Read More
