All the Things

Not only is it already June, the sixth month of the year, but it is the third day of June already. Crazy. Summer is in full swing, and we’ve some how already gotten into the new summer schedule.

What I’m Listening To

As far as audiobooks go, I’m still getting through Winter. My precious friend gifted (or loaned? We haven’t figured out how that works yet) her copy through Audible though so I don’t have to worry about it expiring on me again. I need to start doing long walks around the neighborhood and long sessions on the elliptical to finish it up. I’m on the last twenty chapters.

I’m also working on getting caught up on my podcasts. Finished my last Elise Get’s Crafty yesterday and working on What Should I Read Next? Loving it.

What I’m Reading

This list is ridiculous y’all. I’m currently at some point in six different books (seven if you count Winter which I’m mostly listening too, but still have a hard copy that I read when I can as well). It’s so absurd, my husband has even commented on it. And we are now wondering if there is some correlation between my stress level the the number of books I’m in the middle of! June is also the month for finishing up books I’ve started (I think it’s another reason I’ve only been able to finish 1 or 2 books in the last 3 months)  So in no certain order:

Self-Editing for Fiction Writers | Renni Browne and Dave King
Unblemished | Sara Ella
Front Lines | Michael Grant
The Goodbye Bride | Denise Hunter
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe | C.S. Lewis
Emergency | Neil Strauss
Winter | Marissa Meyers

I’m also trolling through the archives of A Girl, Obsessed blog. I’m loving it.

What I’m Watching

Currently, I’m not really watching anything. (Is that sad?) Unless you count Inside Out at least once a day (and I don’t). Looking for some great recs to watch on Netflix or Prime. I love getting lost in a good television show!

June Goals

*Work on more crafts with Elsie
*Work on reading and letter recognition with Drew and Oliver
*Write a workable query letter
*Finish getting caught up on my TBR list
*Hang all the things in my office

I’m really glad I didn’t. To be honest, this person wasn’t wrong. At the time I wasn’t very good at writing. It was early on in my career. Hearing that I should give up was a punch to my gut and I had two choices.

I could listen, and not write ever again.

OR

I could buckle down and get better.

I chose to get better. I still don’t think I’ve “arrived” but I am a lot better than I was then.

So this is me telling you — don’t ever stop dreaming, don’t ever stop learning, and don’t take bad advice.

You got this. I’m cheering for you.
