Let me start out by saying. I love project life. It’s so inspiring, so beautiful. I love it. I’m pretty sure Elsie’s is my favorite (but come on… really? It’s Elsie!)
I started out this year with good intentions. I even have up to like week 16 maybe almost finished except for the pictures, but I stopped.
So why did I quit? Frustration maybe? Frustration that I never had time to finish a week — it was more of waiting 7 weeks and trying to mad scramble to get caught up. I’m pretty sure I did get caught up in a weekend — and then I’d fall back behind.
I didn’t have a good game plan starting out. I thought I just wanted to use what I had on hand, but then I realized what I had on hand was mismatched, didn’t got together, and was horribly uninspiring. So I’d make an order (because here in Fort Smith, Arkansas my scrapbooking supplies is limited to Hobby Lobby, Target, and Michael’s). Then I’d wait on those. Then the mad dash to catch up. And I’d realize I couldn’t print my photos out via my home computer because honestly? They sucked. I have a terrible home printer.
Since most of my photos are taken with Instagram and on my phone, I would have to send off to some fancy dancy printer in order to get the prints “not cut off” — again Fort Smith is pretty limited to their photo places. Which is more money, and time waiting.
So maybe it is terrible that I gave this up. It’s one of my most favorite projects that’s out there in scrapbook land. I just — don’t have the time. That’s what it breaks down to. However, not all is lost. Remember me saying I take all my photos on my phone? Well, I’m doing something I told my sister I’d never ever do. I’m turning to e-scrapbooks. I’m currently saving my dollars (no, really I am) for a blurb book. I’m kinda extremely excited about it.
Look at this one Elise did (I know I know Elise again — can never have to much Elise)
And this one Ashley did of her family 2011.
To say I’m excited about THIS way of documenting my family’s year is an understatement 🙂
What about you? How do you document?Â
