I was reading one of my favorite blogs (Love, Taza) last week and she posted what she was looking forward to in the “after” of this pandemic. What she was looking forward to when you can travel (somewhere, anywhere). When you can go to the theatre. When this weirdness is behind you.
And I loved her post. It really got me thinking about what I’m looking forward to. This last year has been hard, and has been filled with so much growth — growth and changes that looking back now, I wouldn’t change for anything. But I am so looking forward to the “after”.
Traveling to see my sister. Late in 2019, my sister moved halfway across the country. I can’t wait until I can jump on a plane whenever I want and fly down to see her.
Coffee shop dates — without masks. I’ve been to a couple of coffee shops to work/write, but I can’t wait until I can do it all the time … and when I can leave my mask at home!
Plays. Right before the pandemic hit, Elsie and I started going to plays on the regular (whenever the local young actors guild put on a performance). We’ve been missing going to the theatre (although we have watched some good ones on our streaming services.
Conferences. I wasn’t a huge conference junkie before everything hit, but I did enjoy going to writers’ conferences and connecting with old and new friends. I will admit online conferences are so nice (and normally a fraction of the price), but nothing beats being able to network and make new friends!
Libraries. Our local library has been open for curbside pickup for a while, but there’s just something about being able to hang out in a library all day. Browse all the books.
Playdates. At my house. At their house. At the park. We’re not picky, just getting together with other families and having a good ol’ fashion playdate!
What about you? What are you most looking forward to in “the after”?
