I’m part of a group of awesome authors and bloggers on the street team for Gabriela Pereira’s upcoming book, DIY MFA. Gabriela’s podcast and website are both insanely inspiring and fun to browse through (if writing and creative interest you).
This week we were asked, “What is your origin story?” or when did you first start writing?
Honestly, I have loved books for as long as I can remember. My parents have pictures of me when I was three “reading” to my brothers and stuff animals. I started reading (for real) when I was four. I started keeping a journal when I was five. Books and writing have always been a part of me.
My earliest memory of story writing starts when I was eight. I decided to write a story about a family of dolls living in a dollhouse. I hand wrote it in a notebook at the kitchen table while mom washed dishes. What I wouldn’t give to stumble over that notebook now. For years I would write snippets of stories and story ideas in notebooks and on random pieces of paper. I have a file box (that my husband has so graciously moved from home to home) filled with scraps of paper or character names and description. It’s a fun walk down memory lane to go through that file box.
Writing is in my blood. I will always and forever be tinkering with words and encouraging others toward a love for words as well.
What about you? Do you have an origin story?
