Early mornings. Earlier this week I talked about my typical day. The game changer for me has been that 5 AM wake up (although this week it’s been more like 6). 5AM is a killer (killer) but I get oh so much more accomplished when I get up early.
20oz glass water bottle. Drink all the water. I try to drink 4-5 of my 20oz bottle of water a day. And because I like to add essential oils to my water, glass is the safest (really, it’s the safest to drink from anyway. . . )
Word wars. I’ve been joining a few other writers on Twitter for word wars. One of us jumps on (generally it’s me at 8 in the morning, which, because they are on the west coast, is only 6 for them—whoops!) and proposes a time to start and a length and we write, write, write until the “bell dings” and we come up for air. It’s been crazy fun, and I’ve gotten many edits done this week because of wars.
Prepping veggies before hand. On my quest for better eating (and not eating meat), I’ve found that dicing up veggies at the beginning of the week makes for easy grab to toss into a skillet and cook up. I went grocery shopping all afternoon Monday, and Andy so kindly cut everything up so I can eat good stuff this week.
Paper plates. Having a brother-in-law that works at a paper plate factory (ok that’s not all they make. . . ) really has it’s perks. One of them being paper plates. It’s so amazing to not to have to do as many dishes every night—especially since by that time, I’m ready for bed.
Ryan Graudin. Ok. This may be a stretch (and I can hear the grumbling now. “When Christen finds an author she loves, she obsesses over them” . . . I know, I know!) But seriously. Ryan just has a way with words—her writing is beautiful. I’m almost finished with her Wolf by Wolf (the weekend read recommendation this week) and I already have All the Glows which I recently grabbed on Amazon. Also, she’s released 5 books (FIVE) in two years. Wow.
Notebooks. Seems like I’m always carrying one of these around these days. I’m working on re-writing a handful of scenes that just didn’t work, and normally I’m out and about when inspiration strikes (case in point).
Don’t miss this week’s Periscope which I gave you a recommendation for a weekend read—I may have gushed a little too much (which will be up on my YouTube channel soon (which is currently very bare and sad looking), if you missed it live) and make sure you’re signed up for my weekly newsletter—it goes out tomorrow!
