Contrary to popular belief, I am not a fast reader (I know, I know surprising since on average I’m reading three books at any one given time — I also can’t spell — what’s your point?) On average it takes me at least two weeks to read a normal sized book. It floors me to see readers with goals like “I’m going to read 125 books in 2013”. I checked — I read 22 the whole YEAR of 2012 (and that was a few more of my goal of 15!) It floored me when the last Harry Potter book came out and my husband’s cousin got it at midnight and was finished the next afternoon. I. Can’t. Do. That. (but do look all starry eyed at those of you who can).
With that in mind I have set a lofty goal for myself this year — 30 books (with the intention of going over) I also have a list of “must reads” for this year. I’m looking forward to this list (maybe a little to much?)
1. Kisses From Katie — my sister bought me this book two Christmases ago and I have yet to read it. I’ve been dying to read it, yet still haven’t taken the time to pick it up. That’s changing this year.
2. One Thousand Gifts — this book was raved about by a bunch of bloggers I was following. So when Lifeway had it on sale for $5 I snatched it up. It’s been on my shelf for to long and I’ve been wanting to read it. So yeah. Apparently this year is the year for reading all the books I’ve bought but never took the time to read… … … no comment
3. Real Marriage — I’m getting back into reading marriage books. I inhaled quite a few before I got married and now I’m back at it.
4. Beautiful Wife — heard lots of raves about this one, and since my sister got it for me for Christmas, I have no excuses not to read it.
5. Desperate — super excited about this one. I’ve long been a fan of Sarah Mae’s blog and this book’s sub title just said everything I needed to buy it.
There’s also a slew of books that Litfuse will be touring (what? you’re not a blogger for Litfuse yet? Seriously? Get over there and sign up!! And tell them I sent you…ok so your sign up form will come to me… so tell me I sent you..) that I’m super excited to get to read.
What’s on your list for this year? I’d love to see your list!
