The Lost Apothecary | Sarah Penner — first of all, this is a beautiful book (both inside and out, I mean check out that cover!) The was the Mad Lit Book Club pick for May. I listened to a majority of it on one of my many drives of April. I finished off reading it in May, and I loved the inside as much as the outside. (I’m not going to lie, it made me kind of want to put my history minor to use!)
The Seventh Sun | Lani Forbes — I’m not sure that I’ve ever picked up a book written in this time period! It was really good and Lani has done her research! I also had the privilege (along with my co-host Emilie) to interview Lani for the podcast. I loved meeting her and getting to chat about writing! Her research is fascinating!
Listen to Your Heart | Kasie West — this was my audiobook for the month. You can never go wrong with a Kasie West book, and I really enjoyed listening to this one!
Stray | Stephanie Danier — I don’t read a ton of non-fiction, but when I do, I love it when it’s beautifully written. I’m new to Stephanie Danier, but after ready her memoir, I want to read her entire backlist (which is one fiction title … and it’s currently on hold at the library). This one felt a lot like a Joan Didion read — which is a huge plus in my book!
What about you? What did you read this month? I’d love to hear!
