Huge Birthday Book Haul

IMG_1380So I may have went a little crazy for my birthday. What can I say? I love me some books, and when given Amazon gift cards I will buy . . . books.

So here’s a list in no particular order of the books in my haul (actually I lied. It’s from top to bottom).

Go Teen Writers | Jill Williamson and Stephanie Morrill: Recommended to me by the ever so wonderful Shannon Dittemore.

Persuasion | Jane Austen: This one was actually given to me. Super excited too because Persuasion is my favorite and my copy was falling apart.

The Gifting | K. E. Ganshert: I met Katie at conference last week. The fact that she’s the sweetest thing alive and because it’s a YA book (and you know that’s what my heart loves) I bought it.

Thirteen Reasons Why | Jay Asher: Recommended by the Master. Mary Weber.

The Beginning of Everything | Robyn Schneider: This one was actually recommended by Mary as well.

Everything, Everything | Nicola Yoon: Picked this one up at Target and fell in love with the quirky formatting.

A Crimsom Warning | Tasha Alexander: A few years ago Shannon Dittemore recommended the Lady Emily series to me—Jane Austen with a murder mystery thrown in. I was hooked from book one and I’m trying to get the whole series on my shelf.

Dorothy Must Die | Danielle Paige: This one has intrigued me since I first heard the Epic girls chat about it over tea time (on YouTube).

Trouble is a Friend of Mine | Stephanie Tromly: Sherlock and Veronica Mars thrown together in a book. Yes, please.

The Kiss of Deception | Mary E. Pearson: Both my #WriteNight girls have been on me to read this book. So I bought it to make them happy (and can’t wait to dive in!)

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl | Jesse Andrews: I bought this book solely because I saw the movie trailer and it looked sad. Make me cry, Jesse Andrews, I dare you!

The Aedyn Chronicles | Alister E. McGrath: My mom bought this one for me. Because it was a YA book. She’s the best.

Murder Most Unlady Like | Robin Stevens: This one’s British. I loved the cover and the back cover copy sounded wonderful.

The Anatomist’s Wife | Anna Lee Huber: This one popped up as one I’d be interested in because of my interest in Tasha Alexander’s book. Ok, Amazon, I’ll bite.

When’s the Doctor?: This book is amazing. My kids have stolen it though . . .

So there you have it. My massive book haul. What books would be on your book haul list?

Awesome!! Thanks for the book post! Now You’ll have to let us know how you like them!

I got one of the books on my wishlist for my birthday: Dasies Are Forever: Liz Tolsma. And I really want to get Kathy Tyers’ new Firebird books – I have the first trilogy, but she has at least two new books in the series.

We’ve spent years chasing publication, but it wasn’t until we remembered our true purpose—creating stories that inspire and uplift—that our passions reignited. Knowing why we write helps us push through the frustrations and keep going, even when it’s hard (because, y’all—writing is hard).

Your why isn’t just a line in your bio; it’s the fire that keeps you writing through the setbacks and self-doubt. So, what’s yours? Share below, we want to hear it!

The Margins Writing Challenge May is such a busy The Margins Writing Challenge

May is such a busy month! But we don’t want to let our writing suffer. This is not a word count goal or a “time spent” goal this is just a challenge to fit writing in little pockets of time — 3 minutes while you’re waiting for water to boil, 10 minutes while you’re in the last of the school pick up lines, 5 minutes while you’re waiting to check out at the store.

These little pockets of time, stolen to write, will help the words stack up. I hope you’ll join us this month!

What: the Margins Writing Challenge
When: May 1 - 31
Rule: write in the margins of your day and watch the words add up!
RSVP: kidding there’s no RSVP — but we’d love to know if you’re joining so we can cheer you on! Let us know in the comments below!
