February Goal Check In

I am using Hannah Brencher’s habit tracker to stack my habits to complete my goals this month, and really, the habits
(and goals) are struggling this month. Even though it’s been a struggle, I’m still pushing through, but do to things outside of my control (like subzero temps) I’ve had to shift on some of my goals.

Walk 2x Daily/5 Days a week

As you can see by the tracker, I got a little thrown off by the weather (snow in February, when it’s…winter. Who would have thought.) It took me half the month, but then I decided that if I couldn’t get out and walk (which I can’t) then I would do a kettlebell workout or yoga. So far I’m 4/4 on the kettlebell workouts — which I found on Instagram of all places. They don’t take me long, which is good because I get bored really fast, but my muscles are sore so the workouts are doing something.

March Podcast Episodes Recorded

This is just hilarious. I have in fact gotten no podcast episodes recorded. Partly because I have impostor syndrome and partly from just being busy (work and the last deadline for my September release.) I’ve still got a few of the behind-the-scenes work done. Really all that’s left is to look over my notes, clean them up, and record.
It’ll happen eventually…

Write 20k on the Murder Mystery

This is the one I’ve been most frustrated with myself. I’m coming off a hard push of writing and editing and I feel like I’ve forgotten how to write. I’m slowly coming out of the fog, slowly remembering that writing is fun and I love it, and slowly but surely I’m remembering how to do this thing—with gentle reminders from my people that I’m coming out of burnout, it’s okay to take it slow and not go all in right out of the gate.
I’ve been trying to force myself to plot and write a very specific way and it’s taken me almost four years to realize, I don’t think that is the way my brain works, so I’m really excited to figure out how my brain does work when it comes to plotting and storytelling.
Also, throwing a wrench in things is I got my line edits for my September release, and I’m very much trying to only work on one project at a time (to save my sanity.) So, while I’m not giving up on the writing goal, I am not holding myself to 20k. I’m going to finish up my deadline and jump into the Murder Mystery and commit to getting the first few chapters written before the end of the month.

Blog 2x Weekly

Hey! I’ve been doing that! Yay!

Threads

I’ve also been doing this! I post a Thread 5x a week. You can check out my account (and follow me) here.

Read Get Out of Your Head / Read The Mime Order

Both of these books are from my Authors to Read This Year list. I have picked up and started both of these. I’m on track to find GOOYH, but not The Mime Order. Which, because I’m also participating in four online book clubs or read-alongs, makes sense.
February, historically, has always been a weird month for me. So feeling a little off and stuck this month shouldn’t surprise me. I’m just leaning into it and doing what I can when I can (and I’m so looking forward to March! LOL)
What about you? How are your goals and/or habits going this month?
