May was rough in the reading department. It’s called deadline people (which the first deadline was last Monday, and I totally slayed it thankyouverymuch). Next deadline is early June plus the kids will be getting out of school, so we’ll see how June pans out in the reading department.
And yes, while I haven’t finished a ton of books in May (three. I finished three.) I do have quite a few started, so we’ll see what happens.
Sadie | Courtney Summers – I had been wanting to read this one for forever. I participated in a book exchange over Christmas and was so excited when I got this book! It was such a heartwrenching read (and note: full of trigger topics, so read at your own risk). If you’re a fan of true crime podcasts, you’ll love this book! (and this one just won an Edgar Award!!)
Firstborn | Tosca Lee – I listened to book one in this series last month when I was driving to and from Waco, and had to download book two as soon as the first one finished. Tosca Lee is a genius writer. I loved book two just as much as I loved book one. I will say, don’t read (listen) to this one before you read book one — but I highly recommend both books!
Valley of Betrayal | Tricia Goyer – This book is so rich in the history department. It takes place during the Spanish Civil War which is right before WWII, and I haven’t seen many books out there during this time. If you are a fan of WWII fiction and historically rich stories, you’ll love this one (bonus, it’s the first in a trilogy so I still have two books left to read!)
