2025 Goals

I’ve been slacking on the blog, no matter how many good intentions I have. However, there’s no time like the present to start, so we’re starting.

Besides, we’re all in agreement that January is 974 weeks, so I figured there’s still time to share my goals for 2025. (Not resolutions, goals.)

Some of these fall under the personal category and some under business — truthfully, there’s more written in my journal, but these are the ones I’m going to focus on. I finish these, I can add some more.

Personal

Roast more coffee I discovered roasting coffee last year, and I really enjoyed it. I have a small roaster (only roasting about 4 – 6 ounces at a time). This year I want to up my coffee roasting to where what we’re drinking is what I’m roasting (and also supply my brother with beans as well). I need to find a local bean supplier, but this is me having all the nerves about asking the numerous roasters in town if I can buy green beans in bulk (instead of purchasing them on Amazon).

Less phone time This one needs no explanation. I want to spend less time on my phone, and more time in real life. More time with my family. More time creating. I have plans on deleting certain apps and having “phone hours” (like during business hours because a lot of my business is done on my phone). I also don’t want to worry about social media as much — more posting and just leaving it.

Put out a garden I put out a garden last year, and I’m looking forward to putting out a bigger garden this year — not necessarily size-wise (because let’s be honest, the footprint of last year’s garden could have had a tiny house built on it, and honestly it was a lot for me to keep up with). I want to be more mindful of what I’m planting, taking notes on what worked (peppers) and what didn’t (squash, tomatoes, corn). I also want to put out a summer garden and then a fall/winter garden, experimenting with how long I can stretch the growing period.

Project Life Remember the good ol’ days of scrapbooking? To be honest, I haven’t done anything with a scrapbook in years (like probably six?) I was going through stuff this year and I still have a ton of product left over. Instead of tossing it, I decide, why not. Let’s give it one more go. We’ll see how long I’m able to keep it going.

Move body My day job has me sitting. My side job has me sitting. And as a family, we really enjoying watch a good tv show together — which means … we sit. I want to make sure I’m moving my body and keeping myself healthy.

Business

Authors to read This could be in business or personal. I’ve picked three authors that I want to read their full backlist in 2025. You can see who those authors are here. To be honest, I’m still working on finishing my 2024 list as well.

Write two books Confession. I have three planned, but the third one I’m not sure if it will be completely finished this year or just started. So, I’m just holding myself to two.

Launch a podcast Yes, I still have Exploring the Blank Page that I do with EA Hendryx, but I’ve been dragging my feet on starting my own podcast. I’ve had this idea I’ve been playing with for years. I have about half the episodes already halfway written, I just need to jump and start recording.

So there are more goals on the personal front than on the business front, but I also said I have more written down in my journal than listed here. This year I’m hoping to not overcommit myself to…myself. I always try to fit more in than I have time for and then beat myself up when I don’t hit goals.

I love making goals and hitting those goals. I’m feeling good about these this year, and I’m excited to get started!
