I love reading to my kids. And I love that they love me reading to them. It hit me while browsing books at the library today that I’m no longer picking out girlie picture books to read to E, but easy readers that she can read to me. It’s bittersweet. I love growing readers, but I will forever and always (well, as long as they will let me) read them a bedtime story.
E and I have dove into the world of Narnia. (confession) I actually have never read a full Narnia story (until last week when E and I finished The Magician’s Nephew). E fell in love with Narnia when, as a family, we binged watched the movies (which I hear don’t really follow the original text well). We’re currently on The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. All the happy emoji hearts.
D and I just started reading at night. I’m not really sure what took us so long, except maybe having three to get down for bed when dad’s at work. I finally got it down to an art, and we’re loving our extra time at night. D is loving this Richard Scarry storybook and that happy’s my heart to no end because I have a special place in my heart for Busytown.
