Last week I saw Ashley’s post on making an adorably cute clip board. It’s no secret that I love owls and I just knew that I need to make SOMETHING similar with that owl. Swoon.
Recently I found this great teal lap desk on sale at Target and I thought it could use some spicing up.
This is Saturday. My brother in law is due to walk in at any minute, but I decide I have to run to Hobby Lobby for all the “ingredients” to make this cute.
It’s a whirl wind trip followed by naps for both kids. Perfect. It’ll give me peace and quiet to work on my lap desk.
I get everything finished and leave to dry for ehm 1 hour on the counter top (note — it wasn’t dry after one hour). My brother in law arrives, my husband gets up and my lap desk continues to dry on the counter.
Enters the husband says how cool it is… and touches. Smudge. I walk out for a little bit come back in the kitchen. Someone set a cup on it. Another smudge. Needless to say after 3 hours it still wasn’t dry and it was still collecting smudges. Sigh. It was an $8 project all together and honestly? Still works fine so I’m not to broken hearted. The smudges just add character (right. I’ll just keep telling myself that so I don’t end up crying in a corner).
My owl is still as cute as can be. Smudges and all.
