I have a new favorite thing. Reading by the pool. Guys, it’s the best! The only reason I can think of why it took me so long to discover is that I’ve had a baby on my hip for the past nine years! There’s something about sitting in the sun, the sound of kids playing in the water, cool drink in hand … perfection. Rachelle Dekker’s When Through Deep Waters was the perfect pairing for these hot days of summer, making the heat much more bearable.
When Through Deep Waters is spine-chilling. I’m not going to lie, the first chapter about did me in. It just broke my mama heart in two, and I wasn’t sure that I could go on. The book jumps a couple months in the second chapter, giving my heart a chance to catch up. I feel like throughout the book, the deeper you get, the closer you get to everything blowing up. More than once I found myself holding my breath (successfully diverting my attention from the soul-sucking heat). If you’re needing a good read, you should definitely it pick up.
Needing a perfect drink for poolside while you read When Through Deep Waters? More often than not I found myself sipping on “Mojito” water. Drop 1 drop of Young Living Peppermint Vitality oil and 2 drops Young Living Lime Vitality oil in a picture of water. Pour over ice. Optional: garnish with a peppermint leaf and lime wedge. Yum! (If you don’t have either of the mentioned oils above, feel free to click on the link and purchase using my sponsor number: 2452347 — or just order through the website :))
More about When Through Deep Waters
Alicen McCaffrey finally has the life her mother always dreamed for her: beautiful home in Santa Monica, successful husband, adorable daughter. Then tragedy blows her carefully assembled façade to pieces. Worse yet―Alicen feels solely responsible. At rock bottom, she decides to accompany a childhood friend back to Red Lodge, Montana, where they spent summers together as kids.
The peaceful mountain landscape, accented with lush forests and small-town charm, brings back happy memories of time spent with her beloved, eccentric Grandma Josephine. Alicen begins to hope that perhaps things could be different here. Perhaps the oppressive guilt will lift―if only for a moment.
But when Alicen starts hearing voices and seeing mysterious figures near the river in the woods, she begins to fear she’s completely lost her sanity, as it’s rumored her grandmother did. Or might there be more to Red Lodge than meets the eye? Could the voices and visions be real―and her only means of finding the healing she so desperately needs? Or will they prove to be her final undoing?
The oldest daughter of New York Times bestselling author Ted Dekker, Rachelle Dekker was inspired early on to discover truth through the avenue of storytelling. She writes full time from her home in Nashville, where she lives with her husband, Daniel, and their diva cat Blair.
