A dear sweet friend had a birthday this week. Being short on time (and still recovering from dress shopping with three kids on Saturday) I decided to make this cute bookmark. I’ve been a long time follower (and big fan) of Wild Olive’s blog and I love, love, love her little patterns. I downloaded the book pattern and traced it on to my material (held my material up to the window with the pattern behind and traced on with a pencil—I’d recommend the disappearing ink pen, but I couldn’t find mine at the time).
Seriously this was the easiest (and funnest) thing in the world to make. It took me about 30ish minutes to stitch the book—enough time for E and D to get some playtime outside on the swings, and O to get a short afternoon nap in.
I cut all my circles in the midst of prepping for dinner, and glued the top three together with liquid stitch. I thought it needed a little something extra (and wanted to make sure it stayed together, so I added a black line stitch through my three top layers. I just eyeballed my elastic, sewed my two ends together, and sandwiched between my two pieces of felt. The liquid stitch was having a bit of a hard time holding it all together, so I added another round of black stitches just to help it out.
This was seriously so much fun. I want to use some of E’s drawings to make Mother’s Day gifts for the grandmas (Mom, Anette, pretend you didn’t just read that). I’m pretty sure making these bookmarks are going to become extremely addicting.
Plus—it can double as a cute headband!
