It has been a quiet couple of weeks on the blog front. Rainy outside is making for cozy, lazy (ok not so lazy) days.
This article (note: it’s pretty graphic/gritty—not for the faint of heart) has my soul hurting and my head thinking. What are we doing/teaching girls these days? We as adults—why are we ok with this? What are we giving these kids to live for, aspire to? I know it all comes back around to needing Jesus, but why aren’t we showing that in a more effective way? Are we so wrapped up in our little worlds (distracted by life) that we don’t care? It’s really got me thinking on a whole new level. This isn’t something that isn’t going to effect me. I have a daughter. My best friend has a daughter. There are young girls and teens at my church. My heart aches for them. This is the world that they are going to grow up in—and it’s not going to get better if we just stand by and ignore it. . . shove it under a rug. It’s not going to get better if we don’t teach them what is right—neither will it get better if we just create a sub-culture in and of ourselves.
I’m not generally a serious person, but this is heavy stuff. I just want to hug all the girls in this article and have them over for coffee and just let them talk. I want to show them Jesus. Show them that someone cares.
