I’m part of a group of awesome authors and bloggers on the launch team for Gabriela Pereira’s upcoming book, DIY MFA. Gabriela’s podcast and website are both insanely inspiring and fun to browse through (if writing and creative interest you).
If you know me, you know I’ve been talking ages about how I’d really like to go back to school to get a masters. At this point in my life (job, kids, trying to finish writing a book) it just isn’t feasible to add something else to my plate (of course, there’s that whole turning into a vampire option . . . ) And then there’s the issue of what I would do with my masters. Most of the time, when asked, my answer is, “I want it, just so I’ll have it.” (not the most brilliant answer, I know). I love learning, and it’s something that has taken the back seat to life. I love Gabriela’s thought of why should one need to go back to school to get an traditional MFA? Thus began her inspiration for DIY MFA. I love the thought of diy-ing my MFA. I can do it at my own pace. There’s also the issue of cost that with a DIY MFA isn’t as big of a factor. I’m super excited to dive into this book!
What about you? If you could DIY your MFA would you do it?
DIY MFA will release in July. You can pre-order now.
