On a tight budget this year? That’s ok! Here are some ways you can show love to your favorite author without spending a dime.
Pep Talks. Writing can be hard sometimes. There’s a lot of doubt that goes into each and every page. We all need a special sidekick to talk us off the this-is-garbage-and-I-am-never-writing-another-word ledge (trust me. My sidekicks have talked me off this ledge many a times). Pep talks are so great in these situations—and are perfect if you can’t be by your favorite writer’s side.
Get creative. Grab a notebook or create your own and fill the pages with pep talks (bonus pep talks can be written on a sticky note and stuck randomly throughout the notebook).
Request your library to purchase their book (then check it out.) Doesn’t cost you a thing, and yet this goes a long way—and your writer’s work can be enjoyed by so many!
Recommend their book. If you’re a member of a book club, suggest it for your next read. If you’re not a member of a book club (you should start one!!) you can recommend it to friends that are in book clubs, or even contact your local book clubs and suggest as a read.
Leave a review on consumer sites. This let’s those consumer sites know that customers are interested in that book. Every review helps!
Talk to your bookseller. Notice that their book isn’t in your local bookstore? Chat with the owner/manager and see if they will carry it.
Spread the word. Are you on social media? Talk about your writer’s book. Snap a selfie with their book. Recommend it to everyone who is needing the next great read. Word of mouth is the biggest thing that sells books!!
I would love to hear how you support your favorite writer!
