Guys, I feel like I hit my stride with this run. It wasn’t my greatest run or my fastest run, but I came out of this run feeling good—really good.
First of all, I was proud of myself for even getting out of the car. It was 32 degrees and dropping like every few minutes. I, not being the one who has all the running gear, was dressed in a long-sleeved t-shirt and yoga type capri pants. Heaven forbid I actually think to grab something for my poor ears and fingers. Basically I was cold. I figured I’d be ok-ish after I started running.
My first mile was terrible. It took me 16 minutes and that’s bad for even me. I knew if I was going to finish at a decent time (for me) I was going to have to step it way up. I pushed myself and knocked a minute off my time. I now started looking for people to pass. There was one lady who was about 1/2 a mile ahead of me that I decided I was going to pass (sorry whoever you are!) Which I did—and a 12-year-old kid who at the last minute decide he wasn’t going to finish behind me. I gave it to him. Ha!
It still took me 45 minutes to finished, however, (1) I didn’t want to die at the end of the race (2) I wasn’t extremely sore (thus wanting to die) at the end of the race like I have been in pass races and (3) this was the first time I ran by myself (since day 1) and pushed myself and I finished my personal best (for running by myself).
Currently I have no race for February, but I’m playing with ideas of running in my inlaws town. We’ll see what happens!
