So. I have discovered a new love. Book of essays. It only seems natural that I’d love them (being an English major and lover of writing in general). I stumbled into this love earlier this fall with Mindy Kaling’s first book, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (and Other Concerns). I found myself immersed in Mindy’s life. Mindy’s essays are so much fun to read.
Why Not Me? is even more of Mindy’s fun essays ranging from those on How to Look Spectacular (her tips are hilariously awesome) to an entire section on all the advice that you will ever need. Why Not Me? opens with a story of Mindy taking Skittles to school to hand out so everyone would like her and I was thinking THAT’S SO ME! Mindy’s books will forever be some of my absolute favorites.
Mindy’s second memoir is just as smart and laugh-out-loud enjoyable as the first round. Like a good episode of Friends, Why Not Me? is guaranteed to make you snort and giggle and make a horrible day (or stressful day) a bit more pleasant.
