Sunday begins that time again. The time were all the insane authors dedicate the month of November to hashing out 50,000 words on a new novel. There’s little sleep. Lots of coffee. And a crazy ton amount of writing.
I sign up for NaNoWriMo every year. And . . . I fail. Every year.
2012 is the closest I ever got to finishing and that was the year that I ended up getting half way through the project before scraping the entire thing.
So as we near November (which is a crazy busy month for the Krumms anyway considering we have our wedding anniversary, numerous family birthday, not to mention Thanksgiving—which is probably the biggest holiday for our family) I’m gearing up to want to do NaNoWriMo. I’m chopping at the bit. I want to participate. Badly. However, knowing that I’ll probably fail again causes me to pause.
I know you aren’t supposed to go into something like this—something like committing to write 50K words on a novel in 30 days—with so much negativity. However, I’m not looking at it as negativity. I’m looking at it as reality.
I may not be officially participating in NaNoWriMo this year, however, I will be starting a new goal, my own NaNoWriMo per-say. For the month of November, I am committing to writing five days a week.
This is going to give me a chance to really crack down on finishing my current work in progress (another reason I don’t want to dive into writing another novel) as well as give me a good head start on a project I have brewing in my head.
So. That’s how I’m NaNoWriMo-ing this year.
Are you participating in NaNoWriMo? How are you NaNo-ing this year?
