I’m part of a group of awesome authors and bloggers on the street team for Gabriela Pereira’s upcoming book, DIY MFA. Gabriela’s podcast and website are both insanely inspiring and fun to browse through (for all you writerly and creative-types out there).
There are so many ways out there to do this writing thing. I’ve probably tried a majority of them—write first thing in the morning, write late at night, write 1000 words a day, write 2000 words a day, write every day, don’t write everyday—the list could seriously go on forever.
I think the biggest one that doesn’t work for me? Write first thing in the morning. I work from home as well to writing, and I have to crank out work first thing in the morning. If I don’t, I stress myself out, work all day, and leave no time to finish things up. I work so much better when I can get my 4-5 hours of office work out of the way and then spend the rest of the morning and afternoon on my manuscript (having young kids at home, generally means my writing goes on well into the evening, but it’s what works for me.)
What is a piece of writing advice that didn’t work for you?
