These posts are my favorite. Yes, I’ve already been thirty-seven almost a week, and yes, I had to confirm with my husband what age I was turning (because who has time to keep up with something as trivial as a number?) but let’s be honest. September sneaks up on me like it does every single year, and since my birthday is the second day of the month, I generally blink and miss it.
Nevertheless, I thought I would jump on and share thirty-seven things for my thirty-seventh year. Be it my favorite things this past year or something I’ve learned.
The Sunrise Plotting Retreat. Changed my thoughts on plotting forever. And I super love my Sunrise family.
Minimalism is nice. Really nice. When we moved from the house into an RV, we really cut down on what we were keeping. Then we moved into an apartment and only got out of storage the essentials. Then said apartment flooded nine months later and we lost pretty much all of what we considered “essential”. We moved into another apartment where the essentials were different than what we first thought. Now that we’ve finally moved into our forever home, I’m pulling stuff out of storage and pairing them down even more. It’s amazing when you live without for so long how when you get it back, you don’t really want it back. I’m really enjoying being more minimalist and very particular about what comes into the home. I’m even working through my books!
PangoBooks. Working through my books and deciding which ones I find essential has been a little harder than other “stuff” in the house. I am having fun selling books on the PangoBook app. I like to pretend I have my own little bookshop.
You can make just about anything in a crock pot. For the two months that we lived in the second apartment (after the first one flooded), we had no pots and pans (since we packed them all up). I bought a crock pot and literally cooked everything from ground turkey to chili in the crock pot! We got creative!
Waking up early to get the words in. This is just something I started recently with some writing friends. Wake up early. A quick text to check in (accountability is key!) and then get to work!
Emily Henry. I super love anything written by Emiliy Henry. She has a way with words!
Birkenstocks. These will forever be my favorites.
Libro.FM. Like Audible, but supporting a favorite indie (this one is mine).
Bookish’s book subscription. Like my birthday each month!
Get to Workbook. I’ve been obessed with all things Elise Blaha Cripe. I’ve been told I have to get her planner for forever. I finally splurged this year. I’m hooked. Love love love this planner!
Wordle. Still my favorite.
Slow mornings. Since moving into the house, I’ve spent almost every morning on the front porch with my Bible + a cup of coffee. And here I sit for at least an hour before getting my day started. I love starting my day this way!
Maybelline New York Sky High Mascara.
On that same vein. Black coffee. It’s been a few years since I made the switch and I super love it. Especially when you find a really really yummy coffee blend (and Double Shots gerneally always have really good coffee)
Libraries. Due to trying to not buy every book on the planet, I’ve been using our local library more. With no late fees and a never ending (or so it seems) renewal, it’s been so nice!
Going to my first concert in twenty-ish years. I couldn’t have asked for a better concert buddy (my sister) or a more fun concert (Shakey Graves).
The beginning of 2022 proved to be topsy, turvy, for my family but we’re over halfway thru the year and I feel like we’re all stronger for it.
Homemade quilts. I pulled two of mine from storage. Inherited two from my husband’s aunt (that she made and they are amazing). And my momma bought me one for my birthday. I love curling up with a quilt that I know was made by hand with lots of love.
Harney & Sons hot cinnamon spiced tea. My favorite tea ever. With the turning to fall, it will be a staple.
Pilot G2 Pens. Best pens ever.
Fableist Wine. Cab is my favorite.
#WhereKrummStands. Just a fun hashtag documenting fun places. Looking forward to added more photos to the hashtag this year.
Sweatshirts. My sister got me this one last Christmas, and I gifted myself this one. I rarely go anywhere without on.
Having all the same colored clothes. It makes getting ready in the moring so much easier. (I still have my favorites that I wear all the time).
The Snap Series. Y’all. I will never stop recommending this series. So so good.
Figuring out my process. I’ve been writing for a while now. I’ve written numerous books (1 self-published, 1 releasing next year with Sunrise Publishing, and a bunch more) and everytime the process seems a little different. I just started working on my next YA novel and gearing up to work on my next Sunrise novel and I can already see someting things being the same, and some things being different. I love the sameness, the differences, and so excited to continue growing.
It’s All Worship, Babe. Love this print (currently sitting on my desk… please ignore that my desk is a folding table and that I probably need a new cork board… but eventually the print will be hanging on the wall). I can’t even remember where it came from, but love the daily reminder.
5/11 Backpack. This backpack huge, and it’s a good thing because it’s also my traveling office. Probably wouldn’t have been my first choice, but I basically stole it from my husband when I started working more out of the house (living out of an RV + having your own online business will do that to you). It’s been amazing.
Living without Wifi. Eventually we’ll have wifi again, but right now, we haven’t been able to find any good service at the new house. I’m kind of loving not having every streaming service + having to leave to work (which means when I come home … I don’t work).
My backyard. I’m obsessed.
Bible Babes text group. I heard about a text Bible group on Hannah Brencher’s blog (love her). I was having a hard time with quiet time, so gathered a few friends at the beginning of summer, followed the steps from Hannah’s post, and haven’t looked back.
Gardening. This year, since we weren’t sure when we would actually get to move into our house, my brother in law (who is also our neighbor) and I decided to join forces and make a big garden together. I think we’ve both learned a lot this year — like next year we need more pepper plants, and probably less tomatoes. We’re excited to branch out with more veggies next year!
My bookshelf. Definitely one of my favorite things about the new house.
