One would think with it being summer + a beach vacation that I read a ton in June — not as much as I would have liked, but I did get in a solid three reads, and all were really good!
The Unexpected Everything | Morgan Matson — I will always love anything and everything Morgan writes. I have been known to say on the podcast that when I grow up, I want to write like Morgan. Her books are always monstrous, however, it never feels like you’re reading a huge book. The Unexpected Everything was the perfect summer read (followed closely by the other Morgan book I’m reading — I was trying to read/listen to them at the same time and kept getting the characters all mixed up so had to put one down to finish the other first! Ha!)
Goodbye Days | Jeff Zentner — Jeff Zentner is the other “when I grow up I want to write like” author. His stories always feel like the perfect YA southern read, and they always feel so deep (in a good way). I was trying to tell someone on the beach what this book was about … I got some weird looks (as in … you LIKE this kind of book?) Jeff’s books will ruin you in the best possible way. This is my second Zentner read and it won’t be my last (his new book is coming out next month and I’m so excited!)
Daisy Jones & The Six | Taylor Jenkins Reid — This one was my audiobook listen of the month. If you’re going to read this one, I highly recommend the audiobook. I listened to about half of it on the way to visit family and easily finished the second half (via physical book) the morning I got home. I love reading books about artists. This one did have lots of drug use and cursing (it is about a rock band in the 60s and 70s after all), so if that isn’t your cup of tea, you’ll want to skip this one!
What about you? What did you read this month? I’d love to hear!
